2 Days:Birding in Botanical Gardens & Mabamba Wetland

Day 1
Have breakfast to be picked from your hotel by Access Africa Safaris Guide to head to the botanical gardens. The gardens are found on the shores of Lake Victoria and they provide a good introduction to the birds of Uganda. Expect birds like Verreaux’s eagle Owls, Jackson’s golden backed weaver, Red chested sunbirds, Vieillot’s black weaver, African open billed stork, Hamerkop, Black headed Herons, terns and plenty of Kingfishers, long tailed cormorant and many more. Dinner and overnight at the Botanical beach hotel / Imperial resort beach.

Day 2
In the morning have breakfast to drive to Mabamba wetland in the village of Mabamba where the name of the wetland in derived. You will have walks along the loops that move westwards and reconnect with the main road. You will first go for a dugout canoe ride on the shores to check waterbirds before you go for the walks. Expect birds like grey headed gull, the rare shoe bill, white winged terns, Yellow billed egret, Madagascar bee-eater, long toed plover and others. Drive back to Kampala where you will watch out for birds enroute to reach Kampala Late evening. Dinner and overnight at Sheraton Hotel/ Hotel Africana.
