Wildlife Birding Uganda 4 Days:Birding in Murchison Falls NP

Day 1
Drive west of Uganda to Murchison falls national park. This journey will take you through the Luwero triangle, Budongo forest and passed the western arm of the Great Rift Valley. The drive will take you to the top of the falls where the park derives its name and the Nile its beauty. At the top of the falls you will be able to see how the wide calm Nile is transformed into explosive foam of thunderous white water as it funnels through a narrow cleft in the rift valley escarpment- it’s awesome! You will then walk down to the jetty as you search for birds. Expect birds like the chestnut crowned owls, Red winged grey warbler and Pel’s Fletcher. You will then be transfer to Paraa by boat. Watch out for game as you transfer to Paraa. Dinner and Over Night at Paraa Safari Lodge.

Day 2
Have breakfast to go for the morning boat cruise on the Nile for game and water birds. This ride takes you along the Victoria Nile down stream to the bottom of the falls. The boat takes off at 9:00 am and takes 3 hours. The launch cruise will reward you with game like crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes and plenty of water birds like the Goliath Herons, Egyptian Geese, pied and African Skimmer Kingfisher, and many others. Return to the lodge for lunch and relax at the lodge or bird around the lodge for the rest of the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari lodge.

Day 3
Transfer to the northern game viewing circuit to search for birds with packed lunch. You will walk through the thorn acacia region then the Victoria Nile Track and the Albert Nile Track. This walk will reward you with birds like Speckle-fronted weaver, swamp flycatcher, white bellied barbet, Blue breasted bee eater and many others. Retire from the bird search for dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge.

Day 4
Go for another early morning game drive for after which you will drive back o Kampala. You will have stops for lunch and at the equator for photographs. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Africana / Serena Hotel.
