The 7 Days Apes Tour: Gorillas and Chimpanzees

Day 1
Have breakfast to drive through Mubende and the rolling hills and Rwenzori Mountains to reach Fort portal. This journey will reward you with sceneries of lush homesteads, plantations and farms. You will reach in the afternoon to proceed to Ndali lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2
In the morning, have breakfast to go chimpanzee tracking in Kibale NP. Known for harboring the largest number of primates the chimpanzee search will also reward you with other primates like the grey Mangabeys, pottos, colobus monkeys, bush babies baboons and many more. In the afternoon you will go for a walk to the Bigodi Swamp to view the unique flora and fauna in this area. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge / Mantana Tented Camp.

Day 3
Have breakfast to transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP and reach in the afternoon to catch the boat ride on the Kazinga channel. This trip will reward you with animals like hippos, buffaloes, elephants and plenty of birds on the shores. The boat ride takes three hours. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 4
Chimpanzees in the Kyambura gorge. Have breakfast to transfer to Kyambura gorge for a walk in the gorge looking for chimpanzees. These close relatives of man will be searched for within the confines of a forested river gorge carved into the surroundings flat savannah. The walk is captivating and will reward you with other game or primates. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 5
Through the Ishasha sector transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable NP. Watch out for tree climbing Lions and other game like the Uganda Kob, elephants, topi and many more. Reach in the afternoon to go for a walk in the neighbouring communities for entertainment and shopping of crafts. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla forest Camp / Buhoma Community Bandas.

Day 6
Go for briefing at the park headquarters before you embark on the main activity in the park-gorilla tracking. This will start at 9:00 am and you will walk /trail through the forest tracks that are steep (if its a rainy season) and therefore you should ask for a walking stick if you need one. This is a strenuous activity but the ecstasy obtained on encountering these humble giants erases the poor memories you went through in trying to find these apes. The time its takes to meet mans’ close relatives is unpredictable but it ranges between 2-8 hours depending on their movement. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla forest Camp / Buhoma Community Bandas.

Day 7
Have breakfast and then drive back to Kampala to have lunch stop in any of the towns of your wish. Dinner and overnight at Sheraton Hotel/ Serena Hotel /Hotel Africana.
