Gorilla Vacation Africa 8 days:Bwindi-Queen-Kibale-Bigodi Swamp

Day 1: KAMPALA - BWINDI

Wake up very early in the morning drive westwards. Take a stop over at the Equator where we will stop for photos and shopping. Have lunch in the calm town of Mbarara and proceed our drive through the verdant countryside. You will pass traditional homesteads and have scenic views of the surroundings. You will arrive in the evening at Bwindi for dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Bandas or Buhoma View bandas/ Gorilla Resort camp.

Day 2: BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

There is an early morning access into the gorilla sanctuary. The rainforest is spectacular as it offers a dramatic, heavily forested and dense landscape crisscrossed by numerous animal trails, allowing access for tourists. This park is famous for the intriguing gorillas. The time taken to track these gorillas is unpredictable but an encounter of these primates is a worthwhile. The adventure of spending time with and scrutinizing these gentle giant gorillas is a peculiar, moving, awesome and exciting adventure that will leave you with long lasting reminiscences of a truly unique experience. The gorillas are introverted and peaceful animals and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they play and interact. Dinner and overnight at The lodge.

Day 3: BWINDI - QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast you will take a nature guided walk around the Buhoma communities. . Learn about their way of living as you walk through coffee, tea and banana plantations. Depart northwards for Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive takes you through the unique western rift valley escarpment. Indulge in a game drive in Ishasha sector in search of tree climbing lions before proceeding to the Mweya Peninsular; park headquarters.. The park boasts of a variety of animals including some of the animals in the big 5 like; lions, buffaloes, elephants, bushbucks, and the rare occasional leopard. Have dinner and over night at Mweya Safari Lodge/ Camp/Hostel on the peninsular overlooking Lake Edward and the lush Kazinga channel. As we proceed to the lodge in the middle of the national park, it is likely that you will spot some wildlife like Kobs, waterbucks and warthogs. Dinner and overnight at Institute of Ecology Hostel / Jacana Safari Lodge / Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 4: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

The day begins early as we head for the mating ground of the Uganda kobs. We search for lions, elephants, buffaloes and other wild animals in their natural habitat, before returning for lunch. In the afternoon we take on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural channel between Lake Edward and Lake George. Thanks to the elephants, buffaloes and hundreds of hippos, this cruise will definitely be another highlight of your safari. Dinner and overnight at Institute of Ecology Hostel.
For upgrade you can stay at Jacana Safari Lodge or Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 5: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK - KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

Take breakfast and visit the Maramagambo Forest for a walk through the tropical forest, known for the Blue Lake Known as Kimera Njojo and the Bat and Hunters Cave. You will get the chance to have a close look at the bats and maybe even the rock python and forest cobras that prey on the bats. The walk will provide you with views of primates, different bird species and beautiful fauna. Alternatively you can go for chimp tracking in the Kyambura gorge (not included in the price). We will drive through a grassland area and then after we will arrive at this stunning gorge 100 metres deep that is occupied by tropical rain forests. It is a marvelous walk through the river valley, which is home to many birds and butterfly species. After we will leave for Fort Portal. . This town is famous for the many tea plantations. From Fort Portal, we proceed to Kibale National Park for a stay within the tropical forest. Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale.

Day 6: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK & BIGODI SWAMP

The sensational chimp trekking!! . Kibale Forest is famous for having the highest concentration of primates in East Africa. Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzee, black-and-white colobus monkeys red-tailed monkey among others. Take lunch and then transfer to the Bigodi Swamp for a nature walks that will expose you to the rich avian species, bio diversity and primates at large. The conservation of this swamp is an initiative of the local community and takes approximately two hours. The swamp is known for its rich diversity of birds and primates. Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale.

Day 7: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK - KAMPALA

Today we will explore crater lakes region and enjoy the gorgeous scenic numerous crater lakes surrounded by small volcanic hills. They really give exhilarating views. Proceed to Kampala for have lunch en route.

Day 8: DEPARTURE

Visit some interesting cultural sites in Kampala and craft galleries to shop souvenirs before you get to Entebbe for your flight back home.
